Fusing Fundamentals: 4 sessions, $125
Create eye catching works of art in
kiln-formed glass! Learn the techniques and processes to cut and melt
glass to create bowls, platters and wall hangings. This class is the
most comprehensive introduction to kiln-forming. You will learn about
compatibility, firing schedules, and slumping into a mold, as well as
how to achieve various effects through fusing such as kiln carving and
working with frits, rods, and stringers. All materials and firings are
provided. Students will create new pieces each week and leave with the
best foundation in fusing.

Recycled Glass,
1 session $35
In this class you will make a bowl or dish using recycled/upcycled glass. We will be using old doors and windows. You will learn about using old float glass sheets, bottles, and other glass as well as the special requirements when fusing recycled glass.

*NEW*Cast Glass Pendants, 1 Session $36
Learn to create a cool cast glass pendant by nipping and cutting pieces of glass.
Layer colors to create depth for a one of a kind work of art to wear around your neck.
Students can select from a round, triangular, or teardrop shape to make their cast pendant.
The creations will fire in the kiln, and be finished with a cord.

We will look at many variables surrounding fusing glass from placement of glass in the kiln, to programming to troubleshooting. We will look at "problem" pieces and discuss why the problems happened. A must for anyone starting with their own kiln or thinking about it.

*NEW* Fused Glass Crazy Bowls, 1 session, $60
These colorful, fun bowls are sure to be the highlight of your cereal or candy's life, not to mention it will look good on your counter-top. In this session you will cut and nip glass to make a funky small bowl. We'll talk about how different temperatures will make your bowl textured or smooth. You'll make one bowl that will need to fire in the kiln and will be ready within a few days after your class.

Wire Wrapping, 1 session, $60
Join Guest Instructor Nancy Kovar as she guides you through wire
wrapping glass cabochons. Nancy's decorative wire wrapping will amaze
you! Sterling wire and glass cabochons will be provided for class but
students are also welcome to bring their own cabs. Nancy will even
have some of her multi-layered dichroic cabs that students can
purchase at a discount to wire wrap. The skills learned in this class
will apply to more than glass! Students will need to bring a tool kit,
a list will be provided or students can purchase the kit in class at a
discount. Call the studio for more information.

*NEW* The Fabric Of Glass, 3 sessions
Permanently preserve an article of clothing by casting it in glass. This process is great for baby clothing or anything that can lay flat such as fabric purses. The article needs to be no larger than 12X14, larger items need to be discussed prior to class and an additional fee for extra materials may apply. Baby clothes can be found at many second hand stores, look for sizes up to 6 months. The class will guide you through all the processes from preparing the fabric, creating the mold, un-casting of the piece and attachment of the hanging mechanism.

Fuser's Friday, 1 session, $15
A Special evening for open studio customers. Join us as we treat you to pizza, snacks, and drinks as you work on your independent projects. Lots of fun, laughter, and fusing will abound! Pre-registration is required. Since this is an open studio, you must purchase your glass and have taken at least the Fusing Fundamentals class.

Form and Flow - Contemporary Glass Design, 3 sessions $150
This class is going to challenge you
to go beyond basic assemblies of flat design work. You will learn how
multiple firings can lead you to create your own contemporary glass
focal pieces. We will achieve a “look” that is similar to glass combing
but without the heat of reaching in the kiln. Class will include a
demonstration of how the designs can be created in pattern bar type
projects to allow for repetition of design. Students will make a smaller
bowl or dish using their elements as well as a larger plate, bowl, or
platter.

Advanced Fusing Techniques, 4 sessions, $150
This class is designed for those who want to take their glass skills
to the next level. Create pattern bars and slice the thick blocks into
pieces that will be incorporated into your design. You will sandblast
glass, learn how to fuse and anneal thicker glass works as well as
learn basic cold-working skills. Students will also have the chance to
twist and coil molten hot glass into various shapes using the
vitrigraph kiln!

Bring in the boxes of scrap you've been collecting to fire it into components you can incorporate into fused projects. We'll stack and layer the scrap to create sheets of "watercolor" glass.

Reactions In Glass, 3 sessions, $165
Color reactions in glass open a door to new design opportunities and
special effects that will set your glass apart from the rest! Students
will make a set of reactive tiles/small dishes and then we will examine
those dishes to apply the techniques to a larger project. We will use
Bullseye's new Reactive Cloud and Reactive Ice glass as well as metal
foils.
